#SeasonalSonnets: 17th Dec.

Hello my lovely readers!

Tonight's #SeasonalSonnets entry is a hymn to the beautiful London fog - not the tea, but the actual fog for which it's named. I could wax lyrical about how much I love this particular natural phenomenon for days, but I won't, because that would obscure its simple beauty. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance for a photo - my poetic imagery and 'light drawing' will have to do!

Hopefully it'll make you love it just as much.

17th December

Tonight I pay respect to London fog,
through which I’ve zoomed today with a dear friend,
for though some may dismiss it as ‘mere smog’,
there’s an atmosphere that it alone can lend.
It wraps up like a scarf ‘round the bare trees,
and gives an air of grandeur to the city,
for’t reignites the fire of fallen leaves;
reminding us that we, too, can be pretty.
It might just be the best of local weather,
one of the wondrous things about my home,
both making tourists’ photographs look clever
and to call back us who live here if we roam.
If ever I am lonesome or I’m wistful,
the thought of London fog makes me feel blissful.
