#SeasonalSonnets 2017: 6th December

Hello my lovely readers

Another short (and later) post for my #SeasonalSonnets entry tonight, about the novelty of being able to love winter again. Accompanied by a selfie with my dear friend and PA, Fiona, taken whilst she was standing on the back of my chair as we zoomed across campus tonight.

Love and spoons (because we need them at this time of year!)

6th December 2017

This sonnet’s subject is the changing weather,
and changes, too, in its effect on me –
since for the first time in (what seems) forever
it hasn’t stopped me being ‘wheely’ free.
For over ten years, when I’ve felt the cold,
I’ve had to bundle up, or stay inside.
It made my young bones feel rather old;
I could not go on long, adventurous rides.
This year, instead of chills provoking tension,
they seem again to make me feel alive.
My world has thus regained some “lost” dimensions;
my love of wintry nature once more thrives.
My outside options are no longer frozen
so now I may explore the life I’ve chosen.
